Watford in the First World War - Recruitment
By 1915 the government needed to launch campaigns to encourage more men to enlist, particularly those with specific skills. A series of cartoons were produced encouraging young men to sign up.
And it was not only for the infantry and artillery that men were required. In the Watford Observer there are examples of advertisements asking for motor drivers, blacksmiths and even shoesmiths.
